He was in the pits watching the race and says he will be back for Aus in 2 weeks
Only if he gets the all clear from the F1 medics, but I’m suspecting it’ll be very close if he can recover in time

Albon only missed one race last season when he had a similar appendix op.
Hopefully Sainz can make it back.

Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
I was late watching the race today.
Incredible achievement by Sainz only 2 weeks after surgery...thoroughly deserving win.
Regarding Russell's crash I initially thought it was his fault and the pressure had got to him, but just goes to prove that you need all the information to decide on blame. ;)

^ If Alonso was hoping to secure a Mercedes seat next season, that incident won't help him.
Well done Carlos. pleased for him.
I can't help feeling Ferrari have released the wrong driver.

I get the feeling that Lewis will be the number 1 driver in that team next year.

Great drive from the Spaniard yesterday, well deserved win.
I’m not so sure it will last going by previous seasons but for the moment he’s doing a great job of selling himself to a new team

Daddy Stroll will have paid pretty much whatever Fernando asked for to stay at the team, they know what they have with him and Lance would never be able to be the lead driver there
Agreed.
Alonso may stand a chance of winning another championship with Aston, but Aston won't unless Stroll replaces his son on the team.
Alonso and Sainz would push Aston pretty close to the top of the leader board if Aston continue to be competitive.

Was Newey the carrot that Ferrari dangled in front of Lewis? Answers on a postcard...

Going by the press reports, Newey has only just decided to leave Red Bull, due to the Horner incident and still unresolved appeal.
Hamilton signed for Ferrari before all this came to light didn't he?

I do hope Newey ends up at Ferrari, if only to design a car that knocks RB off winning everything. It's gone beyond boring now.

It's early in the season, but the driver merry-go-round has begun.
Hulkenberg signs for Sauber (Audi in 2026) for next season.
Reports elsewhere are that Bottas and Zhou are both in their last season at Sauber.

Interesting. I heard reports that he wasn't happy with the current Horner situation and that his role within RB and it's success on the track is being down played.
There will be a legal battle if he wishes to move to another team as he's bound to have a non-compete clause in his contract.

In any case, if he's wise he'll be looking towards a team that stands a chance of developing a power plant for the new engine regulations in 2026 - that'll narrow the field down some. I don't believe that RB Power trains have the expertise, which is why they've been cosying up to Ford.
Ferrari, Mercedes could be possible as engine manufacturers, but I'm thinking Aston Martin as Honda, who have knowledge of hybrid powertrains, are to supply their engines from 2026 and he's already worked with Aston Martin on their Valkyrie so will have experience of their engineering department and company ethos.

He leaves in Q1 2025 after finishing the development of the RB17 Hypercar
