ML320 black exhaust tips....is this a problem..??

Hi,

I have owned my ML320 Edition 10 (2008) for around 2 months. I have recently noticed that my exhaust tips are completely black through a build up of what looks like carbon. I have not attempted to clean them yet as I thought I would wait to show the dealership. Has anyone else experienced this and does is suggest a problem of any sort?

I would really appreciate any advice.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

I have an R Class (no DPF) which has pretty black looking tail pipes. Have a look at the others in Tesco's car park - I suspect your car is normal.

Yep... the old grey colour years ago was from the lead in the fuel.... and it was at its greyest when in tune..
