Hi this is a Icarsoft, Parktronic fault code on a 2006 R170 200 SLK. Exactly as on the fault reader.

the driver a failure, even though PTS is not defective (eg. Car Wash, Pnumatic drill or Traffic Light induction loops).

This is the only code on the parktronic. I know what I THINK that it is, but your imput would be good.

A proper scan will say things like offside inside sensor . Or nearside outside sensor . Faults .... you can also see live data in the parktronic section.

if you follow Jag's, Nissan's, Honda's and the odd mobile traffic light they can make the parking sensor throw their teddies... it's because between them one idiot manufacturer must be using the wrong frequency ( I don't know which)

for some stupid reason Merc's store these incidents as a fault - just delete it - although its likely it can be back as soon as you drive the car

I would say that's a made up description that as you have found is more or less meaningless trash - there is a real fault code and description for it - but that's not it

Yes, but it doesn't. It says this.

Yes any other fault code on the reader gives a codes and description, but this section (Parktronic) Doesn't. Deleted it, but as you say, it has now come back.

every time you are in traffic near a Jag or a Honda the car can have a melt down... mine does it regularly and for no sensible reason its stored as a genuine fault

its accompanied on mine with a long beep and an orange (maybe red) message on the cluster saying parking assistance not available - it can be really irritating if they don't get away and the car just does it over and over for miles

do you have hidden parking sensors? the early w221 has them front and rear but it looks just a plain bumper, within 2 years they all went to visible ones (I suspect these are less troublesome)

someone i knew had a landrover (think it was a Freelander) with parking sensors. When someone rang his cordless front door bell, the system flashed and logged a fault !!! (they may have been after market ones)
Work that out

Discovery’s used to be a nightmare with immobilisers, if you drove one to Italy and parked close to a Police station you could never disable the immobiliser as the Policia Radio would overwhelm the receiver front end.

Similar with the alarms on the Escort van, if you took them to a big transmission station you’d have to get it towed off site before you could start it.

The frequencies are reused often and car systems are almost always 2nd or 3rd users.

check this one out....

https://www.wired.com/2015/09/gm-took-5-years-fix-full-takeover-hack-millions-onstar-cars/

When a pair of security researchers showed they could hack a Jeep over the internet in 2015 to hijack its brakes and transmission, Chrysler issues a software fix before the research was even made public after the NTSC issued a 1.4 million vehicle recall, however GM knew 5 years earlier this bug was in the cars but choose to ignore till the specific model impacted was leaked

I have just deleted the fault code from the car again and everything has started working again. So fingers crossed, until I pass another car or traffic lights which may effect them.
