    Market Value SLK55 R172?

But likewise, my 2007 CLS cost me more in repairs and servicing in 3 years of owning than what my last 3 BMWs have cost me over the last 5 years. Swings and roundabouts. It is almost down to luck with a second hand car. I always go for what looks well cared for in my eyes but it’s still a gamble...

@Droverunner and @00slk I’ve used Stuart at Star Auto Services for years before switching to BMW. Very reasonable and professional guy. Knows his stuff and it’s always been a pleasure to deal with him. I would personally recommend him very highly.

    2016 A180d error P038096

Hello, In my case it was just the glow plugs. If you are still getting the error I would be looking at the relay next. Thanks

Diesel Software Update - CLS 350 CDI BlueEfficiency (2011)

Unfortunately, if you look into t’s and c’s, while you do own the vehicle, you will not be the owner of the software that makes the car run. That’s how they all get you by the balls. It is wrong what the dealership did to you, but in terms of I own, they own, you will not be able to win that one.

OM642 Failed smoke test what to do first ?

I would start by asking if the vehicle came out the factory with a DPF. if it didn’t and the MOT station assumes it does then that would be the problem.

need some advice on my Cls 320

When you fitted a new turbo did you change the actuator as well? I have had what seemed like a turbo issue on a CLS320 when I had one and it turned out to be the actuator on mine. Sent it off re-conditioning and problem solved.

    2016 A180d error P038096

Still starts and runs fine from cold, hot etc. From what I’ve seen the code points to relay, but wouldn’t want to chance that and be a glow plug at the same time.

    2016 A180d error P038096

Hello all, Long time no speak from me but I am back, kind of, to pick your brains. The Mrs has a 2016 A180d with the renault 1.5. Had a call in the morning to the tune of “there is a light on my dashboard” followed by me checking it out. Her usual mechanic came out in the evening and scanned...

    Buyer's Guide? People's Opinions!

Blimey, that mpg is not the best. It is good, all things considered, but I used to get 48-50 on a steady cruise in my 2011 E350 CDI 7G+, and that had the 265 engine. Your current figures are the same as my 535d GT for cruising and worse in town and that weighs good half a tonne more.

Vinyl Wrap - Yes or No

Yes it would look better. A word of advice though, be careful when picking a wrapping company. You don’t want to end up with peeling wrap or scratches on the paintwork.

    Hi I’m back guys

Life is too short to worry about the little things. If it’s the car you want and can afford it then treat yourself. I’ve got a £680 gearbox service coming up on the BM, but I knew what I was singing up for so it is what it is. It all comes with the territory.

    Hi I’m back guys

I would consider myself unlucky in the repairs department as I did end up with a lot of stuff on my list. Over the 2 years it cost me in the region of £4-5k. Again, take that with a pinch of salt, because I like to keep my car in best as possible condition so I am sure I fixed things well before...

    Hi I’m back guys

Hello. Just a quick write up from another post on an MB forum about my experience with a CLS for 2 years. Just all the things to watch out for, but overall I loved the car: I ran a CLS for 2 years, and unfortunately got the brunt of the bills in my name for it. Suspension parts do wear quicker...

    Help and advise please

I ran a CLS for 2 years, and unfortunately got the brunt of the bills in my name for it. Suspension parts do wear quicker than you would like. Knocks on uneven roads or around corners are the first sign. It was one of the many balljoints I believe. Air filter housing to turbo seal - never gets...

    New 4x4 Advice: GLE

Just going to throw a spanner in the works. How about a BMW X5 M50d? They can be had for just over £30 with sensible miles and 2016 onward. Plenty of shove and believe the air suspension is standard.

    Steering wheel vibration (B...M...W)

Just a quick update. Balance on the wheels is done and everything is back to normal. It’s enjoyable to drive the car normally again.

    Steering wheel vibration (B...M...W)

Hello all, just a quick update. I may have spotted the problem at hand. The NSF has no balance weights on it. That probably explains it all. In my mind there is no chance that a 3 year old alloy with a tyre that would have been changed once will have the perfect balance off the bat. I will pop...

    Steering wheel vibration (B...M...W)

@RhodieBill Well funny you should mention that. I am looking to swap wheels etc but just try a different car with the 20" wheels. A friend just bought one with that size wheels. Problem is it happened just before we went into lockdown. Once free movement has been restored he is happy for me to...
