I know that my parents C200 (19 reg) has a PPF - "Petrol Particulate Filter". Their car only has around 5k on and that's all short journeys so why the OP's car would have an issue with significantly more mileage I don't know. Whatever the issue I would expect a dealer fix.

I actually think the bonnet stars look really nice on the newer shaped cars, even the smaller ones like the C Class. Personally I think they should be kept as an option in the UK, perhaps just for E Class and above......

Thanks for your quick reply! The car is already booked in (to have the handbrake cable re-clipped, diagnosed from the forum), so I will mention this to them when it goes in. In the meantime I'll have a look to see if I can see any obvious damage around the mounts. Hopefully it shouldn't be...
