Always best to call first and the show up. You have an agreed time and everybody's happy. Of course, they Never have the car you want to drive.....

That's very true...maybe we should just book a test-drive for another version and hope that the only alternative is the one you really want! lol

Good point.

However, I have to give credit to MB Colchester. I went there (agreed date & time) for talks about an ML which of course they did have in. Less than 100 mls on the clock.

We also went onto the new C class. Which they didn't have.... except an unreg C320 Cdi Sport (same engine as mine). Well.... we ended up in that one. Very nice indeed with all the toys and never driven by any customer yet.

I lost one of my old Clio's keys and that was £150 to replace, so its not just MB. Luckily I found it hiding in a drawer, so I breathed again................

Lol, I walked in on a Saturday in jeans hoodie and cap (i'm 20). It amazes me that no-one noticed the potential thief stood at the parts desk till I asked someone... After that they were fairly helpful and got the job done (although they ordered a engine oil dipstick after I profusely checked it was for the gearbox  )...

Ha, maybe I should walk in and enquire about a trade-in for a newish E Class, watch them snigger and then point out my E Class in the car park...

Malcolm yes it is
Take oout the key, use the end to release the battery, look in the end you will see the PCB with a nylon strip running across the end , with the button side up, put a thin blunt knife between the case and the nylon stip on the right hand side anf lift the nylon strip away from the top of the cas and it all slides out

Silly question time

Having proved that you own the vehicle, and you are the person you claim to be  Do they need the vehicle to reprogramme something or other, or will the new key work straight away?

Amazingly I have always been well treated in Mercedes of

Melbourne and i always go there for parts. Once i went and

immidiately a girl came up and asked me if i needed help.I

told her I needed spares and she pointed out the appropriate

section and walked with me to the lift. Felt good to be

honoured as a customer and i was in a t shirt,jeans and

thongs and was treated pretty well and even asked twice by

other sales people if i needed help. Full marks to them.:)

The key should work straight away as it is coded to the vehicle at the factory.
