I have an 08 S Class. Does this seem right. Plus they want 10 days to get it to me?

Hi,
I paid just under £200 for my C43 spare key, that was about 2 years ago now so £220 sounds about right. That did include the metal key blade as well?
Apparently some other car manufacturers are even more expensive for a key.

Possibly? It is keyless entry and keyless go. Not sure if this should matter though?

I'm sure the keys now come from Germany, so 10 days is probably about right.

With keyless go they may want the car for ½ an hour to set the key up along side the key that you have

The cost is mainly due to the smart electronics in the key itself (Immobiliser/Keyless go). Mind you there is a huge mark up whatever the manufacturer (140 for a Peugeot key)

Hi,
I was told that my dealer only has one order a week from Germany, he could order more regularly but its cheaper to have only one shipment.
I was lucky they said mine was only in Milton Keynes, but still said it could be upto 7 days, though I got a phone call 4 days later to say it had arrived.

I'd assumed there was some kind of programming the key to the car done in Germany as well? If it was all done at the dealers then surely they could hold a stock of spare keys and you could get one the same day.

I think that you are right in saying done in Germany, this would be a high security thing, and not at all of the dealers.

Over the last few years the Mercedes electronic key prices have been rising astronomically.

It has come to the point where when you buy a car you have to negotiate the price down if the owner has only one key !!!!

A good point,if only people came here first rather than after, and asked
