I have had this car from new and now at 18000 miles The windscreen wipers make a dragging noise in cold weather and at slow speeds. Wiper blades changed once under warranty by main dealer but the problem still exists. Any ideas please? My old 92 300D with 118000 miles has never had the problem and they wipe much better than the current two blades of the E class:mad:

As I have had no replies to this wiper problem I assume that I am the only one with the problem. The car is due for a service shortly before the warranty expires. I am trying another Mercedes agent, I hope they can solve the problem. The Mercedes agent through which I bought the car could not!

I answered one recently on a fairly new car, think it was an 02, did not see this thread though, I think that for all of us with a single wiper, its worth spending 15 mins to lubricate the linkage.

Malcolm, substitute 'all' with 'most' - I've got a ****** screw under my base cover which, without a mod., would mean removing the entire assembly from the scuttle! (A hole in the centre with a rubber grommet - now takes me 35 seconds!)

Sounds a good idea TOM, I will take off my cover in the morning and see if I can do the same to mine.

Malcolm.

Wellbrook further info.
This model has the dual wiper blade. only 3 years old, Blade replaced 18 months ago but still did not solve the problem. I feel that there is insufficient pressure on the blade at low road speeds and the wiper arm is lifting off the screen and causing the dragging noise.

The MB work program does list this problem as such, how to describe,,,,,
the wiper arm sits flat and parallel to the screen. they have two levers with slots that slide over the wiper arms, one lever fits on the bottom of the arm, and held still, while the other one is used at the top of the arm to twist the arm slightly. It is the angle of the blade to the screen that is important.
