Spotted a CLS 320 cdi for sale on the MB used approved site - basic details are:

Registered May 06, 28000 miles,
Black metallic
18" 5 spoke alloys
COMAND
Heated + memory seats
Sunroof
Parktronic
6 CD changer
Phone pre-wiring
Anthracite leather

On sale for approaching £31000.

Looked a decent spec for that price compared to others of that age. First one I've come across with that level of equipment at that sort of price.

Any comments?

Cheers

Very keen price. CLS are losing £465 a month at the moment and nows the time to buy one, look on pistonheads.com some are selling for less than book.

I bought one of similar mileage and vintage, but with slightly less spec at that price six weeks ago. It was up at £33.5k but they were keen to do business. If you are serious about it I'd negotiate hard on the one advertised, you may get more off it.

Make sure you negotiate hard, its a buyers market. This credit crunch is squeezing everything and they would rather sell than it sitting on their fore court. Get the price down and then push them further be prepared to walk away just to see if they reduce it further.
Make sure you do a "Dom"

Hi - just joined, and bought a CLS350 56 plate (Oct 06), 24,000 miles for £27,500 (full tank and 1 years road tax - probably the norm.) from a MB dealer
So, I would look to be paying no more than say 29k for your CD320i givn its an 06 plate (and same spec as mine except for the sunroof, but I have the designo leather),,,, as a few people have said, it's a buyers market out there right now.

Hi

I purchased my CLS 320 CDI with everything on it for £32,0o0 in May on a 55 plate. Having looked at prices now, they appear to be dropping. Good news for you I guess.

Hard to believe the prices at the moment. On the MB website dealer search engine, there is a 2008 E200 Kompressor Sport with some toys, only done 1,000 miles, £25k. Asking price. That's maybe 23/24 with no part ex? Crazy world.

As FAR as the CLS is concerned I really liked the styling until I sat in one yesterday at Goodwood.
There is no head room for a six footer...

I am six foot and find the front a squeeze! I didn't try the back seat....

But boy, does the car look good!

Interesting stuff - I've test driven the CLS and found it to be fine in all headroom departments and I'm over 6 foot. I do tend to have the seat quite far back and reclined, with the seat cushion tilted up to support my thighs, and it's more than ok with no back aches etc. Maybe I'm a natural sloucher (it used to say that on school reports) and not used to the sorts of headrooms you are all used to in a car.

I also found the back ok too, but then I was sat behind the other half when she was driving (she's a foot shorter than me).

Certainly a classy vehicle though.

Talking to a friend on the weekend he was just offered a pre-registered E320CDI Sport 7 seater Estate with all the toys you would want for just less than £30K, new model, fuel prices, credit issues & VED appear to be having an effect.

tempting to buy a used one isn't it!
I'd pay 15k for a nice loaded 2 year old example
Odd that the 320cdi is losing so much when its such a great compromise between a great 40+mpg eco car and performance car. Then again the new 220cdi is so good with so much lower running costs, it would be tempting too.
All academic - as it's equally worthless I'm keeping my 270 forever.

I hate to say this but one of the reasons MB are discounting the E class so much, and thus hurting customers residuals, is because the 5 series from BMW has so much lower CO2, VED and Tax bands.

MB has new diesels and petrol engines coming with much lower emissions but being hit hard for now by the lack of them.

The new diesel goes into the C class this autumn. S class performance with A class emissions.
