I'm having trouble syncing the contacts of a Nokia E51 with a COMMAND system in an ML500 (07) over bluetooth. (cradle swapped out for SAP V2)

The bluetooth connection works fine, calls can be received/made etc., and the sim contacts are visible, but when I try and copy the phone contacts to the COMMAND system all I get is a "system error" on the phone.

The phone is configured to sync using "Mail For Exchange" back to our email server at work if that makes a difference. When I enter 0000 on the COMMAND and press the handset button, I get a "please wait", some activity on the phone, and then after 3-4 minutes, I get the error.

I've tried sending a "business card" of one of the contact to the COMMAND system as well - but that fails too. Not sure if that is supposed to work, but it may help diagnose the problem.

Dealer and Merc customer service have been close to useless, repeatedly quoting the sentence from the manual, which in this case is not working. The Nokia E51 is one of the "recommended" handsets according to the brochure.

What am I doing wrong? Anyone using a Nokia E51 (or similar Symbian phone) with their COMMAND ?

Any help/advice appreciated.

Thanks

Your problem almost certainly is the sync to Exchange setting. Once the Nokia is configured this way the sync to Exchange takes over from the Bluetooth sync. You need to turn off sync to Exchange for your address book. Mail For Exchange/Content Synced

Thanks amwebby - I'll turn off the contacts in MfE and see how that goes.

It does take a long time to initiate sync by dialing 0000, during which time "Tel Error" shows in COMAND but it does kick in after about a minute. I tested my Nokia N73 and it worked with Contacts turned off in MfE but not with them turned on.

No joy.

With the E51 connected, and "Remote SIM mode" activated I do the following:

Enter "0000" on the COMMAND, and press the telephone button
COMMAND then changes to "Please insert telephone" and then disconnects the E51
COMMAND then says "Please wait"
Less than a minute later the E51 comes up with "System Error" and is showing the sync application. Choose "OK" on the phone (only option) and 3-5 minutes later it will reconnect to COMMAND in SIM mode again.

I've created a new sync profile called "Mercedes" and made sure only contacts are defined as follows:

Server Version = 1.1
Include in sync = Yes
Database on phone = C:Contacts.cdb
Remote database = Contacts
Syncronisation type = Both Ways

Sync Contacts have been disabled in Mail for Exchange. Everything else is still turned on.

Checking the Sync Log just shows the date/time just prior to the error message, and the message "cancelled".

Thanks for that.

I used the same settings, and still got the system error message.

I've had to resort to keeping a copy of my most common numbers on the sim card as well for now. I just hope Mercedes are planning to release a cradle for the E51 as I'm not very impressed with their bluetooth solution at present.

Thanks for all your help.
