My first long motorway cruise in the car since I bought it - just thought I'd post up the results.

Road Trip - Newcastle - Dover ,few days in Kent, Dover - Cambridge - Newcastle. Total 1000 miles.

90% motorway - 10% B roads.

Car - my E200 TE (same 16V engine as C200) Two passengers and suitcase.

Fuel Costs;

Petrol £10 (unused) ;)

LPG;
appx 43 ltrs @ 36.9p = £16
appx 47 ltrs @ 46.9p = £22
" 42 ltrs @ 42.9p = £18
" 30.5 ltrs @ 45.9p = £14
" 39 ltrs @ 45.9 = £18

Average engine speed - 4Krpm cruising @ 90mph.

Total litres 201.5
Total Gallon 44.32

Average MPG 22.5

Total cost £88.00

cost if I had used petrol £181.35

Spec data running unleaded suggests 30 mpg @ 70mph so had I done 3K rpm on motorways with gas - would have used 33.33 gallons - 151 litres x @ average 44p per ltre = £66.44, though gas consumption in generaly higher so I doubt i'd ever get more than 26mpg tops on gas.

Hope someone finds this interesting, lol.

Hi
1990 420se w126, no catalyst
Home fitted (professionally checked & certified) lpg conversion, simple, no lambda loop, mixer at air intake, spare wheel well tank.
24mpg on petrol (when it works!) on journeys
15-17mpg on gas (all the time)
Just gorgeous, and the exhaust smells cleaner than a catalysed petrol car.
Just need a spacesaver spare wheel now.
Regards
Huw
