Hi- I bought a swine of a car with quite a few problems that have occured as winter draws on-
1- starting was always poor, and much worse now in the colder weather-if you dont hit the starter first time and fire up- you then have to 'floor' the pedal and keep cranking till eventually it deigns to fire-and lollops into life- I think this is the cold start vlave - but not too sure where it is ( engine block maybe ) ??
2- I have just had LPG fitted and it runs much better on it when warm- however- I inadvertantly started on gas- realised what I had done- and immeadtly switched to petrol-after which -= the fuel pump didnt work-( not too sure if i pinged something out) I have checked 4 Haynes Books ( but not SL) all merces 190 /124 series- 123 series- 250/280 (eaRly) etc K tronic etc- and Mercs own CD on wiring diagrams- and not one shows the fuel pump relay is- I have established the pump is ok-(hot wired) but would like to know where it picks its feed up from ie controls /relay-valves etc- I have half the car interior in bits and was on here (forum) last night- and apparently the relay is behind the glove compartment-there is also 2 relays near the fuse box ( footwell drivers side) what do they do ?? any advice would be welcome- might even forward it to the book of confusions (Haynes) who strip every car down ( really- must have missed this then several times over) or do they consult the dealer all the time lol - Dave Coates Thanks
