Hi,

The nearside heater on my 1987 107 SL is stuck on hot, though the slide moves up and down. Is this an easy fix, even if temporary as we all know what its like outside at the moment!!
Can I move something on a temporary basis behind the panel which I can get to when I move the underdash panel.
Any help would be appreciated.

Apologies if this is in the incorrect forum, but its the only one I can list a thread!

Many thanks
Simon

Remove the under dash panel on the affected side and you will almost certainly find the flap lever arm has come loose on the spindle. A simple tightening of the securing screw in the correct position on the spindle should allow the flap to be moved by the slider.

A very common problem on 107s after several years.

If the controls are OK then it could be the duo valve stuck one side

IIRC all the 107s have a single valve, that only closes when both heat control slides are at the 'cold' stop.

Is it the case that one lever will not travel fully to the 'cold' position?

There is only one valve on these, the prob is normally the control lever mech behind the dash, if you take the glovebox out running behind the consol from left to right is a bar with a ten mm nut on it. This nut works slight loose and allows the arms to slip you will need to juggle the position of the two levers and tighten the nut back up job done.
