hi all i a noob to the benz forums so am a tad shy:p.
had my "1996 C180auto classic petrol" since last august 104000 miles when i got it, gave £850 for it bargain i reckon ;) . i had engine oil and gear box oil change at about the time i got the car. Currently at 113500 at the moment with no problems except for cold starting(mentioned this at the garage they said its ok) is there anything you guys or gals can think of for me to keep an eye on, an also if anybody knows exactly what needs changing at the next service point?

oh nearly forgot, i may need a spare fobkey how much should i be looking to fork out for one an the best way to find one other then dealership?

thanks matt

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Can only answer about the fob. There is only one source - a dealership. Cost? about £150. Ones on eBay don't work and impossible to reprogramme.

Hi,
I think you will have the earlier key fob with the fip out key blade they are a bit cheaper mine was less than a £100 but this was a few years ago.
Don,t buy a key off of e-bay it won,t work.

As Mr T B,
PLUS
Oil and filter change
Wiper blade
Grease wiper mechanism under "turtle shell"
I also lubricate accelerator linkage/cable if the action feels "dry".

It does sound as if you've got a bargain.

accelerator linkage/cable does feel a tad dry, is this an easy DIY job or garage job only?
brakes where done 87000 so i would say they'll need doing, they feel fine at the moment parking brake goes as far as 3 clicks if pushed hard enough (come on though iam driving an auto iam lazy:) )i only push past 1 click.
funny you brought the wiper mechanism up iam crackin on with that this weekend just got hold of some teflon from work

Mine's a C280 Matt but your's will be similar.
Easy...I disconnect the cable at the pedal end and withdraw it above the bulkhead above and behind the engine. String it up vertical and feed oil into the cupped end a little at a time and work it through by pushing and pulling the inner cable. Takes ages but it was worth it on mine. Makes driving a lot smoother. The throttle action was jerky before - embarrassing when parking (with an auto gearbox). Oil the bottom end of the linkage too, in the engine compartment.
My brakes were done at 81k and haven't need new pads yet. About 112k on the clock now.

You'll need to remove the panel below the steering column to expose the pedals. It's obvious then. Nothing complicated.
By the way, just been reminded by your other thread, at this service CHECK YOUR REAR TYRES.
