12’w204 c220cdi intermitting cut out

Wondering if any one on hear could help me my 2012 c220cdi has developed this problem where it was trying to cut out on me then after a week or 2 it was geting to the point it would cut out and engine management light would come on and to start it would turn and turn over and eventually starting Asiv there was lack of file but then would be fine for few days then back to this so I started with the basics I had a quick look round lift pun in the O/S/R under rear seat and a look at the fule look ok never went in to deep and the decided to stick a new fule filter in it I opted for the cheaper crossland filter as to see if it solved the problem so after I changed the filter it immediately put the engine light out and ran fine for a week the it started the stuttering again so I pulled filter off and blower it throw into a paint cup to check what came out of it there was a a fair about of litter bits of dirt lieing in bottom of cup but one stuck back on it ran fine and put light out for a outher few days and I have to do the same has any one ever had the same problem am hooding it is just the case of dirt in fule and tank needs draind and cleaned any help would be grate

What fault codes are stored in the engine ecu?

This was the when it still had the old filter when it was playing up at first and was only checked with my mates Christa but now whenever it stutters the light may or may not come on but if I had to blow the filter thrown or mabe even leav it if it only stutters the if the light comes on the light is back out after ran n switched of n started again

Check the wiring to injector 2 or 4,and check the connectors are on correctly. Also check the ecu side. The issue is not in the filter /tank etc.

But it really plaid up this morning yesterday after noon I blown air and clean fule throw the new filter n now I can be driving and it Jst cuts out twice it did it this morning on a 3 mile journey first time it started no problem second time it took a lot of turning over to go but think that is my fault because I decided to blow air & fule into filter

Ok thanks a lot well now come when I changed the filter it ran sweet for about a week or do you think it is a coincidence

Hello just wondering if any else had managed to get a look at this yesterday i comleatly drained tank and cleaned it out as also to sides of sender unit and an outher new filter the light went out soon as I put some fresh fuel in it and new filter then this after noon if cut out again and light back on any help would be grate I have also checked the wireing and plugs to injectors and Ecu

Hi Mate, there are many many things that could have caused your engine fault/management light, its not like a petrol engine where you can say ok got fuel pressure , got spark, got compression it will run, common rail diesels are different.
You might be right about dirty fuel, they really hate that... then again it could be one of 20 (or more:eek:) other things, generic code readers won't get you very far. It needs diagnosing properly on Star or even an IcarsoftMB11.
Good luck with it though ;)

I know lol absolutely murder read about a few more forms on this only thing is mines starts every morning without fail and every time I got to use it and could go days without doing it then down it goes really hopeing it’s not injectors or hp pump

As has been said get to an indy who knows what they are doing. Code readers are only as good as the operator.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue? I have exactly the same problem on the same year/model. Been to quite a few mechanics and not sorted.
