123 coupe rear windows

Can anyone help? I have recently acquired a very clean 230CE - this is the 4th & best I have owned. On this particular one the rear windows only go 1/3rd of the way down - in all of my previous ones they went all the way. The garage I use say this is normal, but I don'y agree. I have spoken with the original owner & she says it was like it from new, but I can'y believe this is right. Any ideas?

I think that you will find this to be normal on the CE

It's NOT normal. I've owned two that both go all the way down. I wonder if the supplying dealer adjusted the mechanism? If not, the problem is most likely this: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w123-e-ce-d-cd-td/1247008-coupe-rear-window-repair.html

I've stripped out the mechanism on my coupe and it describes exactly the problem I have.
