124 Differential/Final Drive leak

had some 'clunking' issues coming from the rear when shifting gears recently- had a look underneath and it looks like this:

I take it its the seal leaking here and trailing back along the diff? (Though it seems to have splashed up above too)?

None of the oil seems 'freshly leaked' and there's never any oil on the ground underneath.

I am sure that ther must be some vents that could be blocked, these gear oils foam and expand when hot, don't forget to check the oil level, it should be filled to the top of standpipe.

Its quite common to have a slight seepage at this point, and as television says could be a blocked vent (on top of the diff. casing usually). Not sure what he means by 'standpipe' but oil should be added till just dripping from the filler hole on the side of the diff. (On level ground of course). I suggest though that you first clean it all down, top up if necessary and check again after a while to see just how bad it is.
If it comes to the worst, not too difficult to change this seal if you can get under the car easily.
