My 124 front drivers wing has a bit of rust problems, directly over the arch, very unsightly, and I was wondering, is it possible to remove the wing for re painting, rather than leaving the whole car to the garage for the sake of just doing a wing! My thinking is, if I can remove it, and possibly have it prepared for painting, then it will work out cheaper plus the guy spraying would just have to work on the wing directly, no masking off etc, etc.

Any info greatly appreciated.

If the whole wing needs respraying then the coachworks may feather it into the adjoining panels, particularly if the paint is metallic. Best leave it to them. It is very rusty then you can get cheep replacement parts from manufactures other then MB. Check out Veng and Bucks Car Panels. The quality of steel and fitment may be suspect but if you don't want to spend serious money then it may be a suitable alternative. If the colour is a solid colour you can paint it yourself. Any paint factor will mix up paint to your spec or to a match and fill an aerosol. Cut the paint down afterwards with 1200 grade wet and dry or cutting paste and buff up.
