I'd like to have remote locking on my 124 estate and was wondering if this is something a competant Destroy It Yourself-'er can do?

Your car already has most of that kit, all you need is a decent remote alarm system, one that will also trigger your c/lock pump under the back seat.

ok, so I've got hold of an immobiliser with remote locking- is it tricky to get to the central locking pump on the 124 estate?

Locking pump

Alex

The pump's not that hard to get to (it's under the carpet under the passenger rear seat), but I don't think there's much point in going there. If you want to activate the pump the means of doing it are present at both front doors and the wires must go from there back to the pump. So just find the right wire and tap in at the front of the car

Please do not use Scotchlock connectors to tap into existing cables. They are the spawn of Satan! Either solder connections or crimp proper spades or bullets with a proper ratcheting crimp tool
