My 126 420sel ('86) has always started instantly in the two years I've had it. Parked it 3 weeks ago (to go abroad) when it was running beautifully, came back yesterday and IT WOULDN'T FIRE UP - battery fine, turns over fine, fuel pump fine (at least I smell fuel after cranking it), air filter fine... RAC man sniffs around with his multimeter and says "no juice reaching the coil"... can anyone kindly suggest where I might start looking for the fault as i've never had to look this far into ignition circuitry

with thanks,

Nick

Thanks for link, and yes I've tested plug on king lead and it's not sparking on cranking.

Your Mercedes
as stated
Could it be your fuel pump ? Kickdown relay.

I've posted several things re my recent experiences with problem starting, and car dying on Dual Carrigeway. then briefly starting and stopping. Check my threads.

I'd check the Realy if I was you. What is the number on it as I've just bought a s/hand one from the States which is not for my car.

Regards

Stuart
