I recently had very loose shifter bushings replaced in my 1991 300sl
5-speed automatic trans. Before the replacement, I had trouble getting it into 5th gear, now, it bypasses 4th all the time. I cannot get it into 4th gear automatically or manually. I understand that the throttle/trans linkage controls pistons in the trans and this may be the cause of the problem. When passing on hwy, the trans delays several seconds and drops to 3rd-goes like hell but I'd rather have 4th gear!! Does anyone have any ideas? Thank You!! Jack. P.S. had kick-down switch checked. OK.
