129 Roof will not poen

I have 300 SL and I cannot open the sun roof. The hydraulic pump works if you jump the connections. The switch illuminates and flashes when you press it, but the the system otherwise seems dead.

Simultaneously, the red warning light for the anti-roll bar is flashing at regular intervals (like an indicator light) and it too will not work.

Are thee connected or just co incidents?

Can you help me with either?

Sorry to hear about that and no doubt a ton of advice will be coming soon. I just sold my 300SL (miss it terribly) and hope that it works out for you. Have you had the head gasket issue yet?

On your car the roof switch is telling you the fault code by the flashes.
The roof will not open if it does not know where the windows and roll bar are.

Have you tried a re set

I have had one before that would not work until its fault codes had been erased.

Thanks! I have had similar advice from a Merc mechanic, this seems to confirm the diagnosis.

Can you let me know what, or how much (£) that involved?

By the way. The car is 1990. It was converted to 320 SL but the conversion did not include that extent of bodywork. The hood mechanism is 300SL.

At this stage its always worth dis connecting the battery for 10 mins.

Join up and reset windows and roll bar then try it
