Hi guys
Ok i know what wheels i want to put on the SLK now .
Not sure if to go for 18" or 19" .
Will 19" fit ok with no problems on my SLK 350 (r171)AMG body kit/Sports Suspension. what would be the widest tyre i could have.
should the rears be wider than the fronts ?

Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Regards

Hi,
The biggest you can fit on a SLK (R171)
is as follow:
Front 8.5x19"
Rear 9.5x19"
If you have a look on this site, it gives you what is suitable for each model

The tyre sizes are the same as I have on my SLK (R170).
Make sure when fitting that you check the length of the wheel bolts.
If they stick out further than on the MB wheels, you must cut them shorter.
Otherwise they will make a mess of your hand brake mecanism inside the rear hubs.
Also, you may need to re-calibrate the Speedo as the total circomference of the wheel is likely to be bigger and you will be going faster than what the Speedo tells you.
I'm sure you do not want to increase the treasury already overfilled Gatso fund.

The speed is taken from the gearbox or prop-shaft.
You need an adaptor fitted to convert to the ratio of the wheels fitted.
If you ask the company supplying you with the wheels, they should be able to point you in the right direction
