190 2.6 speedo

Hello. I'm new on here, I have a stupid question. I have a 190e 2.0 and was looking to buy a 2.6 from off a web site, the seller has posted some picture and I notice a 1 inch square plastic in the speedometer, It looks like some sort of computer display. this is not on my model and was wondering if anyone can tell me what it is, I looks like the system checker thats fitted to audis but the haynes manual doesn't mention that merc uses these. I would ask the seller but he is very slow in returning email and I dont want to wait untill the sale end.

I'm pretty certain that no 190 had a computer display. It was all analog in those days. Digital displays didn't come in until the C class. Can you post the photo?

if you look just above the odometer between 50 and 80 mph you will see the display

I think that you will find that it is the A.B.S. warning light, if you look on the 190 site under spare parts section you will seethe same speedo for sale (maybe the same one).

The abs warning light is to the right of the outside temperature display. This looks like some sort of clock but I should know tomorrow when I have a look at the car

Ah well! I was outbidded on the car so will never know what the display does, Strange since its not on all 2.6 models
