190 E, no adjust on steering wheel ?

today i had occasion to drive my wife's 1991, 190E Auto
W201 series
~
problem is with the steering wheel which seems a one position only.
what a squeeze to get in
even with seat right back !
am i missing something ?
is there a cleverly concealed catch to release the column and give a bit more room ?
Help please ........:confused:
