My 190 Auto has developed a really annoying problem - the engine cuts out some mornings after about 2-3 minutes of running from cold. This seems to happen mainly on colder or damper days. When it happens, I slowly coast to a halt and have to pull over and idle for 10 mins or so and then everything is fine again. The rest of the time, the engine runs very well. The car starts fine from cold - this problem does only appear afer a couple of minutes, and only in a morning. I have recently had the choke repaired and the choke seems to function OK now. I have since adjusted the choke so that it stays on for longer but this has not improved the situation. What else should I check?

It is a 1990 190 2.0 with a Stromberg carb.

Check that the warm air deflector baffle is working in the air cleaner box. This sounds like carburettor iceing. Yes this will happen above 0 degrees, in fact anything upto 10 degrees ambient.

The symptoms I am getting do suggest indicate carburettor icing. The thermostat in the air ducting has been removed and the flap is stuck in the 'hot air' position. This did not make any difference and I still regularly get the cutout problems.

Has anybody got any other suggestions?
