I have a 1988 190 edition which has recently had a new engine fitted. I have adjuusted the timing, the tick-over and the mix so that it is perfect and running smoother han ever, however I am no averaging 13miles to the gallon which is very high!
Any ideas?

more info

Can you tell us a bit more about the car. What size engine is it, is it auto or manual box, what sort of driving conditions do you drive in etc etc.

cheers

fuel

Mine is the same model and engine. In standing traffic mine averages between 16-18 mpg, but generally does an average in mixed conditions of about 24-25 mpg.

If you are not driving in standing traffic and assuming the engine is A1, then things to look at are the operation of the gearbox and is the box slipping? Could well be worth changing the gearbox oil and filter - it made a fair bit of difference to mine. Hope this helps.
