I have a 1993 K reg 190E with I think a carburettor because there is no adjusting screw as listed in Haynes manual. The car will not idle when started meaning I need to left foot brake (auto) for the first 5 minutes. After spending over £1800 on the engine I am in danger of beating the car to death for this so can anyone help me (I will not return to the garage as they've been asked abvout 5 times to sort it!) failing that can anyone tell me how much this car with 88500 miles and 10 months MOT is worth as I have to say I am not a mechanic and it's not starting is enough to make me want out of the car as my commute puts me in some dodgy roads where a cut out could mean a crash.

If your car is a 190e it has fuel injection, if it is a 190 it has a carb. If yours is a 190e and will not idle it could well be the cold start valve (the equivalent of a choke) is stuck.
Good luck.
