Ok guys and gals,i got a problem, checking my car over for its MOT and noticed both rear wheels are scuffing the inside edge of the tyres, now having change both rear shockers and springs, and all the stabilizers bars too,not so long ago( 3 months),I also changed rear sub-frame rubber bushes(the 4 big ones).
what else could cause this wear ?............the bushes in the rear suspension arms ? and if so,is this a common problem ? I know it has something to do with camber, castor and toe-in,toe-out,but am at a loss what else it could be,never having to mess about with camber on the rear before ,so if someone has any ideas I would be grateful :-D

shrekky - your problem is that you have altered the tracking set up on your vehicle, after changing any parts on the steering/suspension (front or rear)you should check and adjust the tracking, this obviously needs corrective work now, your set up is to much toe out, for the wear that you describe.
Suggest A.T.S. tyre services most of their branches offer the 4 wheel alignment servive quite cheaply.

There isn't anything you can adjust on the rear for toe in,toe out,its factory set ,same as the camber and castor, and today i had a real good look fromt he rear of the car and instead of the rear wheels sitting like this I-I there are like this /-\,and checked all the bushes today and none seem excessively rotted or worn

sorry but still fail to see, where any adjustment can be ,and no idea where you think you could put washers ?.........please tell me if i am missing something  as all parts come with specific bolts and there isn't any room for extra washers

Shrekky, I haven't done this personally, but from a set of instructions I have lying around (don't even know where I got them) concerning rear suspension lower track control arm on 190 models, I quote;

"LOWER TRACK CONTROL ARM - Prior to removal, make alignment marks between the arm inner pivot bolt, the eccentric washers and the subframe. This is neccesary to ensure correct rear wheel toe setting on refitting"

(The eccentric washer would appear to be '2d' on your schematic diagram).

Hope this helps, Tom.

Surely that would be camber adjustment. It seems you have too much negative camber (the bottom of the wheel sticking out more than the top).

I don't think there is much real adjustment of toe in/out in the rear of any car, only the front. Toe in/out applies to the angle of one wheel relative to another wheel.

Adjusting rear wheel toe-setting.

Referring to my manual for the 200E, checking of the rear wheel toe-setting is identical to the checking procedure for the front. The rear wheel toe-setting is adjusted by slackening and rotating the lower track control arm inner bolt until correct setting is obtained, then, holding the bolt in position, tightening the pivot bolt nut to correct torque.

There must therefore be a cam/concentric/eccentric or whatever 'thingy' in there somewhere.

(P.S. Shrekky, that can't be the eccentric (or concentric, whatever) washer at '2d', as that's the upper control arm. The adjustment is at the inner lower arm.)

Yea fair enough Tom.

The concentric thingy you refer to. When getting my last CE tracked, I did notice them loosening one nut and adjusting with another one or I think maybe a male allen key like tool. When the turned this even slightly, I could see the alingment moving in and out of the given tolerences on the screen.

And with that, I'm going for a pint.

Well then 3a is probably for camber

And 4a is for toe.

with regards to camber - ive had 5 190E's and all had rear wheels which which sat as you described - even mopre exaggerated when boot fully loaded.

As far as I was aware, this camber setting was normal for that car. (if im not mistaked the service scheduel allows for wheel rotation to combat the rear tyres wearing on the iside too much. However if this is actual scuffing rather than just wear then as said above, the toe setting may need adjustment.

My current C180 an 3 others ive just looked at on the car park al sit the same on the rear wheels
