OVP relay would be the first port of call. This supplies power to the ABS pump

Usually the control unit is depicted as essentially a" black box" in the official MB diagrams. Here's the best I could find for the hydraulic unit.

ABS control unit-wiring diagram

Thanks Grober, your diagram was clearer than mine. I understand the control unit is a black box, just hoped I could see what was possible to check. I have bought 2 which were U/S and were sold as working. Still trying to bottom out ABS light on problem.

Sorry for Reviving this Old Thread, but I need Some Help.

I Swapped the 2.5-16 Lump on my 190E with a M104 3.2 later Model Engine.and Kept the Dogleg manual.
but nOw the Engine doesn't Rev past 4K.
I belive the ECU Needs a SPeed Signal Some how on Pin No 8.

what is the Best/Correct way to Get the Signal?
or How to Over COme this Whole VSS and Let the Engine Rev Freely.?

If you have an electronic speedometer the speed signal will be present there. Similarly it may be present on the connector to the car stereo (used for speed sensitive volume control). The wire is usually green/black if its in the radio harness.

thanks a lot for your Replies.

I am Using the Original w201 Speedometer the 4 Cylinder Tacho. is it Simply Connecting the Green/black Wire Behind the Stereo to the Pin No. 8 On the ECU?
what about the Green / Yellow wire ... the VSS Wire?
I Don't Know much About the Electrics of cars and all what I am Talking about is Purely off the Internet.so Bare with Me.

What green/yellow wire? If you have the green/black then es in theory it should be simply connecting that to pin 8 (if thats the VSS input).
One thought thats occured to me is that if you have CAN-Bus the VSS signal should already be presented on that?

No. CAN is a two wire circuit. That looks like a VSS signal

Incidentally on some cars the VSS signal at the radio is Black/Grey and may be taped back in the loom if not used.

VSS is may also be present at the brake switch on cars with cruise.

what Kind of Signal Does it Send to the ECU? is it Voltage or ?
Can I Give it a Constant 12V on , Constant Earth?
I am Very Clueless in these matters and I don't Want to Fry my ECU.

No its a pulse. The frequency of the pulse varies with speed and is used to help calculate ignition maps as well.
