I've just aquired a 1989 190e 2.0 auto -81000miles This may be a silly question but does it have 3 or 4 forward gears? The transmission is in S mode. It appears to be shifting up and down OK in D, kickdown is OK . I'm assuming as I have D,3,2 on the selector its a 4 speed, so in D I'm expecting it to shift 1,2,3,4. but I'm only detecting 3 gear changes as I accelerate. At 70MPH in D the engine is at about 3,500rpm - does this sound right? Thanks in advance for any pointers / tips

You’ve had the car a week now so I think it’s time to put the pedal to the floor and see her pull away. Mercs are made to be driven not to pussy foot about in,:p
