Hi everybody,

I need a little advise, a couple of days ago, suddenly my idle rev got to 1000 rpm!? Used to be around 850, but now it does not go down, stays at around 1000? A sensor gone bad?

Any suggestions, advises?

Also, don't laugh please, my automatic transmission dipstick broke half way!!!!, and the broken part still stuck in the "tube", can this be dangerous for my transmission? Can the broken dipstick go down in the transmission and screwUp everything?

Thank's everyone, and have a good day!

The throttle bypass valve restricts the ability of the engine to draw in air whilst on idle. You adjust the speed upwards by allowing the draw from the engine to pull more air through the valve. Chances are that you have a split in one of the hoses underneat the intake manifold or air filter. Take each one off and inspect it for damage. If you find any splits clean up the hose and wind some electricians tape around the split. If it is really bad then replace the hose. Don't forget to look at the small vacuum hoses as well.

To remove the broken dipstick jack the car up and remove the oil sump from the gear box. Pull the broken end down or force it up with the other end of dipstick. Good idea to replace the gear box filter and seal whilst you have the sump off. Will cost you about £20 from GSF or Eurocar parts.
