I have re-done this thread as requested by Malcolm.

I had an irritating squeaky air heater blower that would squeak sometimes. I cured it by removing the cover and putting high melting point grease onto the ends of the bearings / spindle on the blower motor. I didn't have to remove the wiper arm either, as there was enough room to get in to it by just undoing the blower cover nuts. After a couple of runs the grease worked its way in and stopped the squeak. My vehicle is now more like the great new vehicle it once was.

I thought I would post this to help anybody with the same prob. It's a far cheaper fix than buying a new blower motor.

I have this irritating squeak too- i think it should be the same design on the 124 so thanks for the tip- I was dreading having to take the wiper assmembly apart to tackle the blower.

Yeah it will be very similar. Its awkward space wise, but just dab a bit of grease on the ends of the fan spindle and hopefully it'll work its way in.

had a go at this today- worst part was taking apart everything to get to the cover- why do mercedes have to make things like this so complicated!

anyway, I *think* it worked- no squeaking on a test-run.

Here's a pic for anyone who might have wondered what it looks like under there...

Thanks. Malcolm

Well done. I have found that there is always something else that needs moved to get access to do most jobs on my Merc.
