190E Auto - Cold Starting Problem

Just wondering if anyone can help. Ive ready the owners manual several times now (sad i know!) and it says for the E not to press the throttle while starting from cold, however it usually takes about 4 attempts to start it, yet pressing the throttle makes it fire up 1st time! Ive had several cars with Electronic fuel injection before but never mechanical like the 190, is this a common thing?

190E Auto

My 190E sometimes won't start first time, and so I tickle the accelerator the second time. I don't feel I've committed a cardinal sin, and the car runs fine, so I leave well alone.

I'm approaching 200k so I reckon a few foibles are to be expected.
