well its me again having sorted out problems when I changed the engine a few weeks back I'm here again

the car now runs fine when its warm, the problem i'm having is during cold starts it fires up but wont rev at all I hit the throttle and nothing, usually splutters for a second or two then stalls. when I do manage to rev it, it stalls as soon as i release the throttle.

after holding the revs for a bit its ok to drive exept it idles very low so low that its almost staling (<500rpm) it stays like this till the engine gets warm after which it is fine no problems at all.

it feels like the auto choke is not coming on. I've read else where in the forum about a cold start valve but it wasn't on a 190e.

anyone here got any ideas? the car was fine when i wasn't using a fuel pump relay (the last problem curiously enough) but since i had  the intial problem sorted the car has been like this. when I left the specialist I was told they couldn't set the car up as the inlet manifold gasket was letting air in, and needed replacing.

but I've had this checked by a friend who is a qualified mechanic and he said the gasket was fine ??? he thinks its an electrical fault some where

I don't want to take my car car back to the specialist cause they are really expensive (£35+VAT an hour) and I can't really afford it at the moment the last bill from them was £500

as i said it feels just like starting a car with a manual choke that hasn't been pulled out in fact it feels exactly like that.

will i find any info on this in a haynes manual???

any help will be greatly appreciated

190e cold start

it could well be that your cold start valve is indeed faulty.
this usually srays extra fuel into the engine to enable cold starts.THE MERC 190E DOES HAVE ONE-IT IS LOCATED ON the intake manifold side-it usually has a connector and is blue in colour.this comes off if you remove the wire clip which holds it in place. .you will have to remove the air cleaner assembly to see the cold start valve-the first thing i would do is make sure the connector/connection is not corroded ,and a few squirts of wd 40 may help to improve connection.
if this sorts the problem then fine, or if it does not remove the cold start valve and get a replacement from eurocarparts.com or gsfcarparts.com.

hope this helps,.
