Hi I hope someone can help. I have a 190E 1.8 Auto (1993). Yesterday, the ABS Light, Battery Light, and strangely the fuel light (although I have over half a tank) are constantly on. The car drives fine and there appear to be no other problems.

Any ideas on what this could be ???

Many thanks in advance

You say the car drives fine? Only the instrument problem? ABS/Battery/Fuel light, I would look, firstly for a wiring problem on the instrument cluster.

It sounds like your dash is staying in the 'pre-start lamps check' mode. I'm not sure quite how it works, but I'd assume there's a line from the ignition switch or solenoid that tells it that you've started her up, this could be open circuit.

Alternator

Good point. On my w123 when the alternator had de-excited itself (on a very cold morning when the revs returned to idle) the fuel warning light came on as well as the charge warning light. (no ABS on that machine!)

Very simple to check out with a volt meter, if the battery voltage when running is not 13.8 then it is the alternator, just change the diode pack on the rear. Depending on which semiconductor has gone down different warnigs will appear in the display if it is faulty.
