hello,

My heater fan has just started to make slight whirring noise on spinning up with a lesser noise once spinning. Suspect a bearing in the fan/motor has failed. In the meantime i'm leaving it switched of just in case it causes the motor to burn out....although with winter approaching i dont want to be left in the cold with steamy windows!!!!

Can anyone advise on severity of removing the fan and the basic repair ??

getting the fan assy out can be a bit tiresome, but as long as you have a methodical approach it isn't actually difficult. i'd suggest that a recon motor would be easier all round than trying to pull the old bearing - unless you have the necessary workshop facilities ...
