hi, I have just bought a 1988 190e, very lovely car
but there is one problem, the handbrake (parking brake) is nearly not working...just cant hold the car
I think it needs some adjustment, can it be done easily without taking it to a garage?
thanks

Best solution with an older model like this Boris is to strip the rear drum and inspect the condition of the handbrake shoes and adjuster mechanism. Very likely the shoes are pretty worn/damaged , they may even be the original pads.

took it to a garage today...as I must have the car ready for weekend
I thought it is just some simple stuff like cable or pad
but the problem is that the shoes went off!!
so the disc is also worn due to metal-metal contact
so I need a new disc, and new cable as well, as the old cable is pretty worn
anyway, it is fixed now:D
