Does anyone know of a Perfeormance Exhaust that fits the Mercedes 190E?? I cant find any specifically for the 190E but I found a Cobra Universal Exhaust, would this fit??

Or does anyone know the measurments / Diameters I will have to look out for?

Thanks

Ive just got a NOS Ansa system off ebay.de (was not cheap tho) think they guy had a few of them ill give him a mail and see

doubt you will see any noticable gains with just a backbox, although a full powerflo system you might

my next upgrades are:-
induction kit (looks like its gonna have to be a custom build)
Mild Camshaft (I remember schrick doing them yrs ago)
ECU remap to suit

if anyone can shed any light on any of the above please let me know

Dont realy want Performance Gains, Just mainly Looking to get a bit more of a deepish throaty noise compaired to the standard quite sound :)... If I was putting a Full System in, I would only do that to a car thats worth doing it to (eg the 190E Cosworth) not my little 1.8 :p :) hehe

Tell me about it mate! I'm 19 with 1 years no claims and Pass+ as well, and my renewal was £650 this year on my 190 2 litre carb.
My insurance wanted £1700 to go on a Cossie!

Steve,

What age is your 190E? is it carb or FI?. If you're looking for a throatier exhaust and FREE hoursepower then if its got a cat take the guts out of it - a length of tube works! This works best if a) The car is pre-1992 (cats are not required for an MOT) b) If its an FI model as the ECU will probably cope with the change if not it can always be re-chipped.

The cat is very restrictive and therefore takes energy, some of which is noise, out of the system and acts as a silencer. By allowing the car to breathe the felt power will be greater and you ought to get greater economy and smoother power.

Essentially, such a change is not strictly a modification as this can happen in the normal course of events.

If the car is a later year some people do the same and swap a new cat in for the MOT but you must watch out for roadside emissions checks. I am not keen on the idea of replacing the cat with a straight pipe as the cat casing is usually well located to act as an expansion box to aid scavenging and a straight pipe means that the next expansion at the mid-silencer box may actually hinder the scavenging effect at the manifold.

Sounds (forgive the pun) too good to be true? I was genuinely impressed with the results when the cat on an Audi of mine broke up and blew out to create the same effect.

its a 1991 and Fuel Injected. How easy job is it to remove / Bypass / run a pipe through it? Is it best to take to a mechanic to put on ramps or is it the sort of job that can be done in the back yard with axel stands and a jack :)

Also, Anyone used one of them Cherry Bomb Exhausts before??? are they any good? Seem cheap, £30 :)
