Hello there,
I've been battling a rather stubborn drive system in the rear passenger side window of my 1988 190E. The problem at first was that the small connecting joint between the window itself and the pully system had suffered a broken clasp. When that was repaired however two other major problems have occured since then that have been a realllll PITA! First off, the Nylon gear inside being from 88' is worn out and the threads are starting to worn off leaving a mess of cable. The second problem is the cable itself! it's braided steel and unfortunately it appears to be coming unbraided and rather uncooperative in going back into the motor driven pully system. From what I hear from my pop, Mercedes only sells the entire pully unit with pull shaft and all in one deal for a price of 200-300 dollars. Is there any trick anyone has figured out for dealing with the Steel cable and the Plastic Pully? Thanks!
