190E Running Rough

Thanks for responding to my original post mike65 and television. I finally had the chance to do some work on my car yesterday.

I managed to find and repair a wiring fault with the power windows, which now has them working fine.

Unfortunately the engine is still intermitantly running bad. I re flowed the solder joints of the OVP relay as sugested, but it has not made a difference.

The engin starts and runs great from cold even after a good drive to reach operating temperature. I stop and restart, and there is no throttle responce, runs rough and wants to stall. The next time I start it is very hard to start and hesitates a bit while cranking like the timing is too far advanced. It will then idle really high and will not come down or iddles really low. I shut it down again and restart, and it runs fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may cause this type of problem?

Cold Start Valve.

Hi,
had same sort of trouble, on my 190, some time back.I would check the cold start valve....."5th. injector".If it is coming into use, or is leaking fuel when the engine is hot, you will get the symptoms of a too rich mixture.The engine will struggle to start and will run rough until the extra fuel has been burnt.Did post this same answer sometime back...if you check back you will see the former response.

I had a similar problem n my C200 and found it to be the Mass Air Flow Meter, the way I checked this was to disconnect the MAF, the engine ran a lot better and the roughness went, responce was good. It is probably better you try this and disconnect before going and buying new (£300 plus from Mercedes), but don't run it without for too long.

Is the car a !90e ? .Don't think you will find a MAF on your vehicle Rhino 8572. just KE-Jetronic injection system.
