I have had this problem in a few of my 190's, what happens is that when it rains water build up in the boot lid and when you open it water pours out of the top of the boot. I have changed the lock rubbers but it still happens and i have no boot spoiler. I am a 190e enthusiast and must know what causes this

Thank you

I had something similar on a 190. the boot lid was not filling up with water due to ingress into the lid, but was condensation really quite bad.
The cause of this was a water leak int the boot area due to the rear screen leaking because the bodywork had rotted away in the corners of the c piller/rear shelf. I had to take out the rear screen and repar the rotted sections. After repair was all ok

If the boot lid is diff the cause perhaps its leaking via the rear number plate mounting. Had that befora as well

boot leak

I have heard in the past that the prongs of the 3pointed star can allow water to pass. - cure is to remove star, replace plastic grommets or remove star and put small amount of mastic (bathroom or window sealer) on to the top of the plug and replace star. This should seal the leak.

I had exactly the same problem with mine... big problem as have amps etc installed.
I found that their is a small drain plug on the corner of the boot lid that was blocked (with rust!!) so I sanded back all the rust and repaired it and unblocked the hole and now it's ok.

I agree with LAMAR, mine was the same, it was like a Brazilian rain forest in there.
Tried a window seal on mine (think I caught the rust in time) still leaked though, tracked it down to the rubber vents behind the C post grilles, water was getting onto the parcel shelf below the trim via this route, and was then dripping into both boot wells, this would then condense on the bootlid innards and trickle into the bootlid frame, you could hear it splashing around, and it poured onto the boot contents when opened.

Plenty sealer around both vent grommets sorted mine out, also I removed the rubber plug at the bootlid edge (nearest the n/s/rear lamp) which allowed any water to drain away.

Lying on my back in the boot with the rust killer, followed by lashings of body wax sorted out any corrosion (check around the boot hinge mounting points, and look inside the crossmember with a torch)
