Calling all 1950's Mercedes-Benz owners ...
The Golden idea
In celebration of the Queen's Golden Jubilee in June, Ferrero Rocher, with the help of Classic Car Magazine are holding an exciting Classic Car Show and convoy parade in London.
We are looking to get 50 Classic Cars, either from 1953 or were in the showrooms in 1953 (the year of the Queen?s coronation) or also from the mid 1950's converging on the Capital from across the UK in celebration of the Queen?s Golden Jubilee.
Getting the show on the road ?
Before departing their local town, each Classic Car owner and drivers will make a special visit to their local Town Hall to collect a congratulatory letter from the Mayor for onward despatch to the Queen ... thus the driver acts as an ambassador for their town.
A proportion of the cars will also be asked to drive into their local shopping precinct to receive a card signed by general members of the public, raising profiles on a local level for all parties involved.
At this point, the cars and their drivers will have some publicity photos taken by the assembled local press for insertion in local newspapers/websites, and then get on the road to London.
As each car is secured for the show, a press release will be sent out by DSA, a London based PR agency to local news-desks around the country. This is a fantastic publicity opportunity for car manufacturers, car clubs and car owners. Press releases will also be sent out to Classic Car weekly, Classic Car Magazine and Practical Classics magazine, detailing any historical/royal significance and any other relevant and exciting news stories.
Classic Car magazine will also provide editorial coverage pre, during and post event, as it is guaranteed to make exciting reading for their target market.
Press packs will also be sent to national press and relevant tourism websites ... we will also be contacting the RAC for inclusion in their newsletter.
The event itself will be publicised in the London Press ... the Evening Standard, Time Out, Hot Tickets etc. to entice people to come from far and wide.
The Ferrero Rocher Classic Car Show
The cars will arrive in London on Bank Holiday Monday, 03 June. All 50 Classic Cars will make their way to the Central Square of the Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich and the Ferrero Rocher Classic Car Show will get underway.
The Old Royal Naval College will be completely open to the public for the first time ever in its history, driving an expected 10,000 people into the college grounds alone!
To celebrate the public opening, the events committee at the college will throw a large 1950?s style
street-party and village fete that will run past the College grounds from 10am to 5pm on Monday 3rd June.
The college is also involved in the String of Pearls concerts.
The view from the royal park and the Observatory looks straight and clearly into the Central Square where we propose the car show to be. No doubt that that will raise much curiosity and publicity in itself!
The final farewell!
Once the Classic Car Show has run its course (it will of course be timed to the minute), all 50 cars will travel in parade, through Central London driving past all of London?s landmarks, creating an incredible stir! We will invite both local and national press and mention our event to Time Out and Hot Tickets.
The press coverage from the show and convoy will no doubt be astounding! With all luck, the show will make the 10 o? clock news!!!
We would love to have your cars in the show ...
To make this event truly special, we are looking for truly wonderful Classic Cars circa 1953 and the mid 1950's.
I have been told that you have access to some of these beautiful cars and that you may be willing to come to London to join in the festivities!
It would be wonderful if you could give me a call on
020 7400 7200 or email me on ukjj@marketing-partnership.com and we can discuss the event in a bit more detail.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
