I recently bought a 280SE that had not been used in a very long time, fuel pump seized, and all rubber tubes rotted, got the fuel pump going, replaced the tubes put 2 gallons of petrol in the tank, and what do you know the pump whizzed round but no fuel got to the engine.
I disconnected the large tube from the tank and pump, to my surprise no fuel came out!!!
So heres the question, is there a minumum amount of fuel to be put in the tank?;)

Hi,
at least 10L if car is leveled as the whole system itself needs 2-3L before it goes back into the tank. But the best thing before you may continue is to flush the whole tank with water first. The pump is quite expensive.

Remove the filter (see the picture for the golden part in the middle) and clean it. Than you may fill in rust converter and mix it with water. Leave it for at least 24h.

That should do the work. Greetings from Exeter,
Oli
