1972 350SL-No V8 Burble-Why?

Why is there no real V8 burble from my 350sl?. I also own a 560sec which has a destinctive burble,why is this? Would I have to replace the entire exhaust system or just the rear silencer? If so where would I be able to puchase such an item.
