Hi,

Anyone know what size engine a 1972 350SLC would have? Is it a 3.5 liter or a 4.5 liter?

Thanks

As far as I know the 72 350SLC has a 4.5 engine (M117.982), same as 350SL 4.5.

US models

It was called a 350SL up to 73, then called a 450SL, and 350SL badge dropped in the US.
3.5 engines were not available in the US, where Mespe (Marty) is from (I thinK). A lot of 72 models had their badge changed to '450SL' by their owners.

The European models did have a 3.5engine.

Well thanks for all the responses. The car in question actually is a euro model, i think, had the euro headlights. is it still the M117 engine? I do believe it is the 3.5 litre, as the fuel injectors are different between the two. What about the accessories. P/S pump, alternator,,,

Liter,,, litre,,, someone has got their R's and E's mixed up.
