Newbie here based in Leeds looking for some advice.

Just bought a 1975 350 SLC with 110k miles - maintained by MB for first 25 years of its life - last 5 were not as kind - MOT due soon.

Looking to get a detailed once over - should I go to a MB dealership, classic car specialist or local mechanic?

Found classicarco in Manchester in the 2004 classic directory.

Anybody used these guys? How did you go?

Recommendations in the Leeds - Manchester area would be much appreciated - searched around the site looking for a listing of recommended / preferred mechanics - could not find one - does one exist?

Want to use it as an everyday runner so might as well bite the bullet up front and see whats the full monty.

Thanks.

DJ

Welcome aboard

My very biased advice is leave MB well alone, espec in Leeds and surrounding areas. Merccare in Pudsey are well spoken of by JB, and I take my C280 and 500SL to Duke St Autopoint in Rochdale, who has looked after all my varied motors for years. There's another chap in Brighouse whose name I can't remember, and Dronsfield's in Saddleworth do services as well as provide parts.

Try searches on the keywords such as the towns you could have services in, or the names mentioned.

Fun though, aren't they.

Hi Myros,

Many thanks for the welcome and taking the time to share your knowledge.

Very much appreciated.

And yes they sure don't make them like they used to ...
