1977 350sl misfire

this car stood for 2 yrs, have fitted plugs,rotor,dist cap, new leads, new fuel, fires up first go seems to run very fast on auto choke but seems to run on all 8, after while ticks over great on all 8 again as have pulled off leads and checked but when you give it some revs misfires with like big flat spot, if you then turn ign off and fire up again it seems to rev ok for a while , any tips, cheers

i would check all the vachuum pipes esp the vac advance for the dizzy also the advance is working by sucking on the vac pipe with the cap off you will see the dizzy advance & return when you stop..then i would clean the inside of the metering head & the throttle body also check the injector seals as they might have perished with age & allowing unmetered air in also try unpluging the cold start injector when it's warm to check it's switching off & not over fueling & as above a good fuel system cleaner as the injectors might be sticky:cool::cool:have you done the basic checks for timing ect you if can't be sure who was the last one to work on the car

when i firast stared using my coupe after its 4 year holiday it was missing under load because the coil was breaking down, it gave up completely after a while.

Good point popup,, coils can start off OK for a few mins, and the output can fall off rapidly when faulty
