Hello,
Recently acquired a lovely 1978 280CE; USA model with a low compression engine that is pretty well plugged up with two pre catalysts, a main catalyst, and what seems to be a fairly quiet/restrictive air intake.  Am thinking those two precatalyst should be removed and a K/N filter put into the airbox and that might make the engine breathe a bit better.  More throttle response and little more power, maybe?  Any ideas on this and where parts replacements might be acquired?

Stereo:  I removed the stereo from my prior 1987 300D (w124).  The fronts/rears both fit right into the stock holes using the stock grills on the W124; they are ADS A4 and A5 coaxial speakers.  I am considering having a subwoofer professionaly installed into the trunk; thoughts in this exercise (other than to take out a loan)?

Regards and Happy New Year,

Carl

1978 280CE (USA) questions

The intake system for your vehicle is unique to the usa and Japan.

As far as I am aware no one in the uk will be able to help with this, the solution, if available, will be over there with you guys.

as to the sub, why not. Best to see your local ICE specialist and seek their advice
