1978 350 SL fuel problems

:confused::confused: Hi there, I have a 1978 350sl, It runs for 100 yards and stops and splutters, I have changed the fuel filter, fuel pump, flushed the tank out, and i am now pulling my hair out Help

Hello and welcome. Have you checked the fuel pump relay for bad soldering

The fuel pump relay is known for having bad soldered joints,its only a matter of re soldering them.

I believe that the car should run with a wire connected from pin 30 to 87 when the relay is taken out

Thanks malcom ,tried that no change .new fuel pump extremly noisey when engine dying.

Slacken the pipe where it comes from the tank and joins into the injection when it stops, to see if fuel comes out

You have put the filter on the right way round

I know this fuel system very well, assuming your problem is fuel related, the problem could be one of many components - my advise is to have a full pressure test of the injection system carried out by someone who understands Bosch K- Jetronic;)
